User Experience (UX) Maturity Survey 2009 – Findings

The HFI UX Maturity Survey 2009 – Findings (pdf file) |
Human Factors International conducted the first survey of UX maturity within organizations to better understand the state of the industry. Our primary goal was to develop a snapshot of the user experience operations within usability aware organizations world-wide.
This whitepaper presents findings from the HFI UX Maturity Survey—2009, helping usability/user experience professionals understand where they are on the path to maturity, and what to do next.
| HFI's UX Maturity Survey indicates that stable, visible, internal usability and user experience groups with executive support have become significantly more prevalent since 2004 when Dr. Eric Schaffer outlined the elements of a mature usability/user experience practice in his book Institutionalization of Usability: A Step-by-Step Guide. But having a presence is not the same as having a practice. |
HFI thanks all those who participated. The summaries presented in the whitepaper reflect completed surveys from 1,123 respondents, from April 1-15, 2009.
Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss your company's efforts to achieve UX maturity or any of your user experience design needs.
