Contract for Design

Frank the Analyst, Beeky the Researcher, Monty the Programmer and Eric are sitting on a table. They are discussing what feature a design should have. Frank says it should be a "floating pull down." While Monty insists it should be pop ups because "I like pop up browsers."

Eric is seen exasperated at their constant bickering based on personal preferences.Eric finally intervenes by saying, "Without a solid foundation the design becomes a hopeless jumble of preferences. The user is exploring so we use tabs."

Frank and Monty say that they had agreed to these user types and these task designs before. And thus Eric's suggestion works.

Gist: Do not proceed with the final design until there is a firm consensus and signoff on the Contract for Design.
