Any combination of HFI's Usability Central – Best Practices modules can be purchased as part of an HFI consulting engagement or as an off-the-shelf standalone product. Upon purchase, our IP license agreement grants your company worldwide, perpetual rights of use. You may install HFI's Usability Central – Best Practices on your server or desktop and make it available over a secure company intranet or network. Alternatively, HFI offers free third-party hosting for up to the first three (3) years of use. |

HFI's Usability Central – Best Practices is intended to be a one-stop repository for all your usability resources. It includes a "Resource Manager" utility which lets you easily make high-level customizations, such as adding links or uploading your own exemplar deliverables.

| System Requirements |
HFI's Usability Central – Best Practices is delivered as a two-CD set. One CD contains the open source software necessary for operation of the product, which includes: MySQL, PHP and Apache. The second CD contains content from the appropriate Usability Central – Best Practices module(s).
Please note that Usability Central – Best Practices is NOT a dynamic coding tool or program for building, coding, publishing, or maintaining Web sites or applications.
Server / Host Hardware Requirements
Usability Central – Best Practices can be hosted on your existing intranet server or on a desktop computer. This will be used as a file server for the Usability Central – Best Practices content and must have at least:
- 700 MHz Pentium®-compatible CPU
- 256 MB of RAM
- 2 GB or more of free space on hard disk (3 GB preferred)
- 16 bit color display, 1024 x 768 resolutions
- CD ROM Drive
Server / Host Software Requirements
The file server on which you host Usability Central – Best Practices must have at least:
- Operating System: Windows NT, Windows 2000 (all versions), Windows XP Home/Professional / Linux
- PHP 5.0.4, MySQL 5, and a Web Server (Apache 2.0 / IIS 4)
You may have a separate MySQL database server. However, PHP and a Web server (Apache / IIS) must be installed on the same file server as the Usability Central – Best Practices content.
Client Software Requirements
The minimum software essential for accessing Usability Central – Best Practices through your intranet or a standalone computer are:
- Microsoft Office 2000 or above version
- Adobe® Acrobat® Reader version 6
- Windows Media® Player
- Macromedia Flash™ Plug-in
- WinZip®
- Microsoft Visio®
- Browsers: Internet Explorer 5.5 and above or Netscape® version 6.0 and above or Mozilla Fire fox 1.0.4
