Web Standards
|
|
For a very small company, it may make sense to simply use the generic
standards in HFI's Usability Central Gold®. But most companies ask
us to customize the standards to fit with their branding, domain, conventions,
and existing standards. We have a standard customization process which
can generally be completed in 6-8 weeks.
Our consensus-building approach to developing a Web standard is a key
benefit. The templates are easy to use, developers can learn by copying.

|
For one banking customer, we created a standard for confirmation
pages. Banks do a lot of confirmations, so it makes sense for them
to have this type of page as a standard template.

In the Social Services Administration section, we encountered a
problem. The term "Clear" was routinely used to clear
a payment to be made. It was occasionally used to clear the data
on a form. So sometimes a payment was made and then the screen was
cleared. Other times the payment was not made and the screen was
cleared. So, we changed the conventional "Clear" button
to "Erase."

For many clients, it is very important that the templates in Usability
Central Gold reflect the company brand. For some others, it is even essential
that even Usability Central Gold itself reflects their brand. (See example
below.)
